With Its DNA Rooted in Diversity, West Cary Group Opens Communications Shop

The West Cary Group (WCG), an independent, minority-owned, full-service communications agency, today announced the opening of its new office here. WCG focuses on internal and corporate communications, branded communications (direct mail, print and broadcast) and interactive content (Web, multimedia and mobile) for startups, medium-sized businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

WCG was founded on the principal that diversity of thought wins the game. The WCG team – headed by Moses Foster, president and CEO, and Blair Keeley, executive vice president, Creative Services – has an impressive track record of developing novel solutions for a number of nationally known brands including Capital One, LandAmerica, Ritz Carlton Hotels, Hilton Hotels, the Indianapolis Colts, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Nationals and the Washington Capitals.

“It’s a no-brainer that America is growing more diverse by the day, but diversity appears to be everywhere except Madison Avenue,” said Foster. “For us at WCG, it’s not about creating an ‘all black’ or ‘all white,’ or ‘all Asian’ agency. Our goal is diversity of thought and perspective. We are achieving that by very purposefully integrating people from diverse backgrounds and cultures into our working team.”

Putting its corporate philosophy into action, WCG is partnering with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Adcenter to develop Project REMAR (REflections of the MARketplace), a model program to educate minorities about the advertising industry, train talented students through actual client engagement and open the door to career opportunities in the top U.S. advertising agencies. Oversight for the project is provided by WCG and VCU Adcenter principals; Steve Dapper, founder and chairman, hawkeye; and Caribou Honig, former vice president, Marketing & Analysis, Capital One.
