IMAKE Software & Services, Inc. is pleased to announce that its latest version of the OpenVision Session Resource Manager (SRM) is now integrated to the industry’s leading OEM players: Cisco, Motorola, and Sun Microsystems. Integration with Cisco 7600 Routers and Load Balancers, Motorola B-1 Video Server and Sun Streaming System video server positions IMAKE as a provider of true open system platforms for VOD and IPTV, enabling the Triple Play / Quad Play, and targeted advertising support for cable and telco service providers.
"IMAKE's SRM has provided the Sun Streaming System with an open-systems solution for session management that meets Sun's strict requirements for scalability and high availability in an IPTV solution," said Sun Microsystems, Director of Engineering, Henk Goosen.
IMAKE’s Session Resource Manager is being released to work in a Highly Available environment scaling to millions of simultaneous sessions in 150 milliseconds or less average session set up time.
“Integrating IMAKE’s SRM is one of the first steps in going to an open systems platform for any cable or telco service provider. IMAKE’s SRM will guarantee those service providers will be able to integrate with any video server vendor, any middleware vendor, and any network provider while still giving service providers the flexibility and scalability they need with their legacy systems,” comments Mark Schaszberger, CEO of IMAKE Software.
An open systems SRM should work within a network to support the Triple Play / Quad Play and enable value-add services such as targeted VOD advertising. IMAKE’s OpenVision SRM supports these goals by enabling:
1. A multiple service delivery network
2. Network Quality of Service (QoS)
3. Bandwidth management
OpenVision SRM will work with or without network equipment such as Cisco Routers within an IP environment to validate a network has the bandwidth it needs to service a session request. OpenVision SRM is designed to work in either an IP or QAM network environment.
The OpenVision SRM has also been integrated with the OpenVision AdExchange product to support targeted ad insertion into VOD streams using Playlists.
OpenVision SRM is scalable from a single server Sun T1000 platform for a trial package all the way to a highly clustered Sun Server utilizing SAN technology from EMC along with front end n+n Sun T2000 server technology.
IMAKE’s OpenVision technology has been proven in a production VOD environment within the US with over 11 Million Digital Set Top Boxes supported today. Using proven technology, OpenVision SRM has been chosen by multiple service providers including a world leading Satellite DBS provider as well as a large national Telco.
